Aloha!  Boy, it’s blustery out there!  Then again, here in Hawai‘i, we’re still in our Ho‘oilo, or Winter, season.  Traditionally, we are in the month of Nana.  According to Hawaiian historian Kepelino Keauokalani (born in 1830), “Ma ia malama o Nana, ua pau ka eeleku o ka lau o na laau i ka noke a ka ua ma na la o ka hooilo.” (In this month of Nana, the dark bruising of the leaves of trees by the pelting of the rains of the days of winter has ceased.) Which means that spring, or kupulau, for us should begin in the next couple of weeks, as we enter into the month of Welo during mid-April.

Of course, I’m sure that the blustery weather doesn’t exactly make everyone want to jump out of bed and get into the gym or dive into the frigid waters of the ocean, but… maybe this week’s batch of images will warm you up and get you in the mood to hit the gym with a fire that no bit of wind or rain could extinguish!   Enjoy!

What’s up gang??  Ooh boy, March is almost over and April is right around the corner!  Where does the time fly?  Before you know it, summer will be here… and then fall, and then winter…and then 2010 will be nothing more than a memory.  Hopefully it’s a good one for everyone.  And if what you hoped 2010 would be hasn’t been exactly the greatest of fulfillment, take heart my friends…there is still time left…284 days, 5 hours, 56 minutes and 23 seconds, to be exact (as I write this).  That’s a LOT of time if you plan to live every moment of every day.  Often times we forget about the wonders of life, and the joy of every breath.

Of course, I’m probably being philosophical because I just got through watching “The Bucket List,”  (which if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it) but it’s moments like these that I really start to marvel at the wonders of life…and look back at how much time is wasted by doing little inane things that really have no meaning, like complaining about the woes of life…wanting things to be better, but doing nothing to create positive change.

It’s also come to mind how quickly time moves, and that if you don’t stop to “smell the roses” once in a while, life has passed you by in the process.  This past week, in the span of two days actually, we here in Hawai`i lost two icons of the Hawaiian world… one of the co-founders of the Merrie Monarch Hula Competition, Aunty Dottie Thompson…and a hula master from the island of Hawai’i, Ray Fonseca, who left us way before his time.   As my family and I heard about his passing, I couldn’t help but think about how fragile and how unpredictable life is.

We’re coming to a time in history when some of our great treasures are leaving us.  That’s the interesting thing about time.  It doesn’t slow down for anyone, and it doesn’t care who you may think that you are.  It is constant and unforgiving.  You see, I’ve just entered my 30s and I’ve always seen myself as a youngster who has all the time in the world.  There are moments when I still think about what I want to be “when I grow up.”  In fact, when I look at myself in the mirror, I don’t see a man in his 30s, rather I see a man who just got out of high school…but the reality is that it’s been many years since high school.

Now don’t mistake my ramblings as someone who is stuck in his childhood.  I am quite aware of my age and I act accordingly… however, I’ve come to realize that 30 doesn’t feel all that different from 20.  Anyway, I’m getting off track… My point is, that whether or not I realize it…I  and my fellow 30-somethings ARE the makua (parents) now, while our parents are now the kupuna (elders).  And it will not be too long before I and my contemporaries are the elders of this world.

What is my point?  Time steams  on with or without you, with the quickness of a speeding locomotive…. are you going to let it ride on by, or are you going to jump on the train?

Monday, Monday.. la la…la da da da da da da…

Oh boy, it’s that time of the week again!  Is it just me or does time fly by way too quickly sometimes?  Anyway, I hope everyone’s kicking some ass this week and getting hot for all the boys on the beach :) .  You never know, you might run into one of the hotties in this week’s batch of inspiration!  Or maybe you might meet someone worthy of being included in a “visualization” posting :)   Either way, be sure to give him my number! Hehehe…

Anyway, on to the week’s festivities!  Enjoy!

Sometimes little kids have a wisdom and a tolerance that baffles the mind… don’t we wish adults thought the same way sometimes….

I thought Spring was supposed to be in the air?  It’s been cold as hell here in Hawai’i!  Then again, I know that in comparison, our version of “cold” is MUCH different than the kind of cold you are used to… but still?  How is Spring treating the rest of you?  Is it warming up yet? :)   Well if not, have no fear, hopefully this week’s group of inspirational images for your use in the gym will help to raise the heat a little ;)

Our first stud has a great set of pecs…and although you can’t see the complete set of abs, you can tell that his abs are out of this world!  That’s what I want hehe…

Since Spring is around the corner(hopefully), maybe it’s time for a little fun and sport in the outdoors?  Anyone up for some volleyball?? :D   (Thanks to the guys at Unlimitedmuscle.com for sharing this image.)

I think there’s a certain beauty that emanates from a black and white photo.  What is NOT perfect about this man?  He’s got some great pecs, and that midsection is to die for… the rock hard abs, the “v line”…and that treasure trail… man, he’s got it all!  I wonder what it took to get there? :)

For those of you who need to see a whole bunch of guys together, how about a hot bunch of Brazilian beauties??  I don’t know what’s in the water down there, but I definitely need to get me some!

And lastly, but definitely not least…I think this guy makes me want to jump into a pool and go for a swim…how about you??  Just check out those arms!

Yo!  Is it March already??  Spring Break is only a few weeks away!  Is everyone ready?  I know I’m not.  But ahh well, c’est la vie, right?  I’m better today than I was last year, so that’s the important thing!  And if you’re like me, and need more help to get up and out every morning, here’s this week’s batch of inspiration!  I hope everybody finds something hot to aspire to in this week’s offering of muscle.

Just look at the abs on our first guy… wow, I want to know what he did to get those things! :)

Maybe I need to start working out in the pool like these water polo players?  Their abs are incredible… I wonder what the workout regime of a water polo player is… any former college players out there?

Hmmm now that spring is around the corner, it’d be a good  time to get out on the water (when there’s not a tsunami warning going on..hehe) and enjoy the sun with some friends!

Lord knows I have a weakness for Latin guys…there’s just something alluring about them.  Maybe it’s the great skin tone, or maybe it’s the unbridled passion that most of them seem to exude, but whatever it is.. I want to know what these guys do to stay so muscled!

And my personal favorite of the week… this guy just makes me weak in the knees… the great tan, the 5 ‘oclock shadow, the great set of abs, well-formed chest, the elusive “V-line”… the list goes on and on… wish I could be just like him :)
